Closing a sale can be the hardest part of being in the network marketing industry. While it can be financially and emotionally rewarding, it’s also tough. It’s a simple fact that many of the sales you pitch won’t close. You can, however, increase the number of sales you do close by following a few guidelines.

First of all, you need to establish a rapport with the customer. It’s important that he or she feels comfortable with you because he or she is the key to your sale. Would you buy something from someone you weren’t comfortable around?

While establishing a rapport with your customer is important, keeping control of the conversation is important too. When you’re making the customer comfortable, it’s easy for the customer to steer off topic and start talking about his or her personal life. You should also always ask questions so that you’ll know what you need to cover before it’s time to close. Let the customer know that you care about their situation and that you’re just there to give them a product that they need. The most important part of the closing process is you making sure that you’re presenting your product as if it’s the best product on the market. Let your customer know how valuable the product has been to you, and how much you love it. If the customer sees that the product is valuable to you, he or she will be excited to learn more about it and maybe even buy it.

You have been part of a successful multi-level marketing (MLM) business for several months now. You’re even bringing in a little bit of extra money! Thankfully, you’ve finally recruited a few people to work with you as distributors. What can you do to help a new recruit get started in the world of MLM?

First of all, they need to understand the job they’re doing. They are selling a product, while recruiting other people to sell the same product so that one day they can reap commission off of that person’s sales as well as their own sales. Review the product thoroughly with your new distributor. Have him or her try out the product, and then study the product until he or she knows it like the back of the hand. It’s incredibly important for the new distributor to be able to answer any questions a potential new client might have during a sales pitch.

Letting a new distributor go on a sale with you might also be very helpful. You’ve been working this job for several months, so you know exactly how the business works. If a new distributor goes with you during a sale, he or she can see how you approach the sale, how you control the conversation, and most importantly, how you close it. There is nothing like learning first hand!

There are so many tips you can give a new distributor before they step into the world of selling. Remind them not to try to sell to everyone because not everyone will want to buy the product. Warn your new distributor about the dangers of making false promises and how that can often come back to haunt a network marketer.

Having a conversation isn’t hard for you. You’re a great listener! In fact, you might be too good of a listener because people always seem to keep talking, leaving you to just sit back and listen. That might be alright amongst your friends and family, but it’s not okay in your particular work environment. You’ve just started an online business and things are going really well. However, when you talk to someone about your business, the conversation somehow always ends up back on them, even when you’re trying to sell your product. Sooner or later, you’re going to have to learn that controlling the conversation is one of the many keys to running a successful business. Any conversation you have about your business should be completely run by you, just like you run your business.

First of all, controlling the conversation is important because people love to talk about themselves. Not only do people love to talk about themselves, they love to talk about their husbands or wives, their kids, their pets, their job, and everything else related to them. Even if your prospect isn’t a selfish person, the conversation may stray from his need for your product, to how he has to go to his child’s soccer game in the evening. You have to make sure you keep the conversation about his need for your product. Otherwise, people will talk about themselves until they don’t want to talk anymore, and you may not have even gotten a word in about your product. Additionally, controlling the conversation saves time you could be spending with other clients.

Second of all, controlling the conversation is important because your prospect may not know the best questions to ask you. Some people just aren’t very intuitive, and don’t like to ask questions. You might ask your prospect about her needs, she’ll explain them, and then when you ask her if she has any questions, she’ll say no. That is why you need to learn to anticipate questions. Think about what kind of things the prospect should have asked you and then you can just start explaining away.

Lastly, controlling the conversation is important because your main goal is to get your product out there. While it’s important to have a good rapport with your potential client, it is also important to make sure this conversation stays on the topic of your choosing: your product.

It’s not like a typical sales job where a person goes to work, and sells stuff out of the office or from door-to-door. The first person is paid from what they sell and also for the sales that the person they recruited makes. There are several myths in circulation about it and about the network marketers who make it possible.

First of all, network marketing is not a get-rich-quick gig. It’s actually ideal for someone who is patient and can wait a little while to start making the money they want to make. Sure, there is money to be made in network marketing but it won’t get you rich quick. Just like with any other profession, it takes time and patience.

Another common myth is that network marketing is some type of scheme. People will often say that network marketing is a Pyramid Scheme, even though a Pyramid Scheme is illegal and network marketing is not. The true definition of a Pyramid Scheme is where an investor pays someone a lot of money for nothing, then the investor waits to reap the benefits of what he or she paid out.

However, the only people actually making money in a Pyramid Scheme are the tiny number of people at the top of the pyramid. People will also refer to network marketing as some sort of Ponzi Scheme. A Ponzi Scheme however, is when investors pay a collection agent who uses the investors’ money to pay the schemers. Network marketing isn’t like either of these things. Network marketing is completely legal.

The last network marketing myth is that with just a little bit of time each week or month, you can turn your network marketing into tons and tons of money. This is incredibly untrue. Network marketing takes a lot of time. You can’t have your family members and friends buy your product over and over again. You have to find new clients, and that isn’t easy.

How To Get Over The Fear Of Calling Your Prospects

If your new business is just starting out, you probably don’t have much of a customer base. Sure, your friends and family support your business whenever they can but you need more than just them. You have a radio commercial and a few flyers, so there are people visiting your website and calling you. However, you know there are still people out there who don’t know about your business. How else can you get the word out? Cold calling…

Just the word cold calling invokes fear into the hearts and minds of those individuals who don’t have experience with it. Even sales people with years of the industry under their belts don’t like to cold call. Unfortunately, it’s a part of being a business owner. If you were brave enough to start this business venture, you’re brave enough to make a few phone calls. Thankfully, there are ways to overcome this fear.

First, you have to know that people are going to say no. People are not only going to say no, they are going to hand up on you, and some will even take the time to yell at you before they hang up on you. Once this happens once or twice, you won’t worry about it anymore. Don’t give up, no matter what people on the phone say! Just mark those people down on your Do Not Call list and go on to the next person. They’re waiting to hear from you!

Secondly, you need to have confidence. You have faith in what your business is offering. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have started it. Sometimes if you call someone who already has your product to make sure things are going okay, it will relax you for that truly cold call to someone you don’t know. They might even give you a referral and that can make that next cold call a little less chilly!

Lastly, if you want to really kick this fear of cold calling, just think of those phone calls as a necessity. Before you pick up the phone think, “This is something that I have to do for my business and there is absolutely no way my business will survive with it.” If you keep that mentality, you will keep making those calls, no matter how many people hang up on you or tell you know…or both.

How Negative Thinking Will Destroy Your Network Marketing Business

It’s been said before that you can’t be successful unless are thinking positively. As hard as it is sometimes to maintain a positive mindset when things aren’t going well, it has to be done. Negative thinking can and will destroy your network marketing business.

The first way this can happen is when you are cold calling. It can even happen when you’re calling someone you know. People are going to say no. People are also going to hang up on you. People are going to ask you if you are trying to scam them. Most people are just innately skeptical of anything that might seem like an easy way of making money. Rejection makes it hard to make the next call, but if you maintain a positive mindset, you’ll overcome that quickly. Remember, it is just a phone call. Move on to the next one with a smile.

Negative thinking can also destroy your business if you let people get inside of your head. It doesn’t always take a mean or sarcastic comment to upset a person. Sometimes a simple no or someone hanging up on a person can make that person very doubtful. It’s easy to take one no and think that maybe you just aren’t good at network marketing and that you should just quit. However, the most important person you must have faith in is yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself no one else will. Don’t you want your business to succeed?

Negative thinking destroys your business because it also affects your business. If you’re not thinking positively, you’re probably not going to be in the best mood. No one wants to do business with someone who is angry and negative. People who are investing their time and energy in you need to know that you have faith in yourself and faith in your business.

Now that you’re ready to be a positive thinker, there are things you can do to maintain that great attitude. Start by setting realistic but challenging goals. It’ll feel good to challenge yourself and it’ll feel even better when you succeed.

Realizing that you can’t please everyone is another great way to stay positive when network marketing. Not everyone is going to like your product and not everyone is going to like you. Once you realize this, it’s much easier to deal with the rejection that comes with a sales position.
